Bauer's Back Surgery

Organized by Jed Haws

Recovery
So far bauer's recovery is going well, she is full of piss and vinegar. She is starting to act like herself again and thinks she can do more then she really can. The hair on her back is growing back. We are glad we decided to go into debt for her because she is like one of my children.
Donations
If you are more comfortable donating straight to the Vet office the information is below. They accept credit /debit cards and just tell them to put it against Jed Haws's bill. Thanks

Bauers Back Surgery
Bauer, a 4 year old black lab/basset hound mix puppy was brought into a school by a little boy because his dad was going to get rid of the puppies if he didnt. A co- workers wife (teacher) brought one home and realized they couldnt handle another dog. So they offered her to me before taking her to the pound. Being a animal lover I took her and have had her ever since. She is a lively, playful, bold dog who loves people especially kids. She also loves to swim, run in the woods and play in the snow.

I work and live at a Fish Hatchery. One day while bauer was at work with me she got in with the fish and was chasing them around trying to catch them, with more enthusiasm than usual. Later that night she seemed sore, then the next morning she couldnt use her back legs. She was seen by a vet who took x- rays and put her on steriods with a good prognosis. She went back for a check up and everything was looking good. Then a week later she lost use of her back legs again for a day, then was ok. Then 2 days later she lost use of them again never to regain use. Bauer was brought to a specialist and they said she has a ruptured disc putting pressure on her spinal cord. With immediate surgery she was expected to make a full recovery. We knew that it had to be done soon so we went ahead and had the vet do the surgery. Prior to this appoinment we researched different financial help and when we explained that to the Animal Emergency Care Hospital she gave us 6 months to pay. We were not in a financial position to pay for this kind of veterinary care. But we couldnt bare to lose such a big part of our family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
